Quiet Corner, Santuary?

I have a group on facebook and the main point of it is to encourage one another to have our daily quiet time with God.  I was thinking this morning about my quiet time and is it really quiet?  Having quiet time is not just reading the bible, but it is reading, meditating, praying and listening to God.  How can you have true "quiet time" if it is not quiet? I think sometimes we have trouble hearing God cause we have so much noise in our lives.  I know at my house, it is rare for the TV, music, or both to not be going pretty much 24/7.
My goal this week is to find a spot, create a spot, even just a corner in a room, that I can use to have my quiet time.  I want a place that I can go to and read my bible, talk to God and relax and listen to what He has to say to me.  Do you have such a spot?  If not, why not join me, make you a spot for you and God.  If you have one or make one, I would love to see pictures and when I get mine done, I will come back and share pictures of mine.
I am off to think, look around and create......
God bless,
Pat

Diary of 5-January 31, 2012

I am seeing...a bed that needs to be made

I am hearing...talk of football

I am smelling..the smells of a homecooked breakfast

I tasted..hot fresh tea made and delivered by my son

I am feeling...blessed

Simple Woman's Daybook for January

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...it starting to get dusky dark and trying to rain

I am thinking...about all that I need to do,but right now working on finishing blessing my home and starting supper-red beans & rice, mac n cheese and cornbread!

I am thankful...for each new day.  I am thankful for my friends online and IRL, hot tea, family and Gods blessings.

In the kitchen...I'm in the process of making some soup for lunch right now. Tonight we will be having a comforting dinner of Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots and salad. Okay, might as well throw some flaky buttermilk biscuits in for good measure.

I am wearing...pink shirt, jeans and white socks

I am creating...the next few months Moms meetings, Children's church lessons and schoolwork for Stephen

I am going...no where today, blessing my home

I am wondering...what is going to happen and if my hubby will find a job soon

I am reading...my bible and waiting on my book to arrive that I will be reading and reviewing

I am hoping...that I get all my stuff done this week that I need to get done

I am looking forward to...some free time later to relax

I am learning...that  do not have to control everything

Around the house...lots to do and hoping I can get it done

I am pondering..over life and where I am and where I want to be and how to get there

A favorite picture for today...

God is always with us! When we are at our darkest hour, God's light is there!

I have been feeling kind of down lately. Hubby had been unemployed for several months. Finally he got a job and we felt it was truly a gift from God. He got up loving going to work. He was so happy! He got raises almost immediately and then a promotion. Life was good in the Love house.

Then, bam, with no warning he got laid off and we are back in the unemployed world. We are back to unemployment, depression, how do we survive, what do we do? I have been so down cause I don't know what to do?

Then this morning I was goofing off on facebook and I read this on author Beverly Lewis' page......"Dear friends, these verses touched my heart this morning, during my devotional time. Perhaps, they are meant to encourage some of you, as well. "Even in the darkness light shines on honest people. It shines on those who are kind and tender and godly...They aren't afraid when bad news comes. They stand firm because they trust in the Lord." ~ Psalm 112:4, 7 We're in this journey together! And how blessed we are to know that God is right there with us, though the triumphs and the challenges, jah?"

We may be in the darkness right now but God is still there and His light is still shining. We are honest, we trust and believe in God. We live for Him and He is there. He was there in the good times and He is there now. I don't understand why this happened but I do know we will be okay. We are not alone and God is bigger.

If you feel like you are alone and dealing with some battle out there in the darkness, look up, God is there and His light will shine on you if you let it.

Taking a Break to see if I want to continue

I am taking a break from here.  I am not sure if I want to continue or if my blog is another thing that is just a thing of the past.  I ...
