PEACEful home! Simple Tips to help have one!

Your home may not be perfect, life is being lived there.  Dishes get dirty, clothes need washing and kids will get into trouble but there are some things you can do to help make your home more peaceful.
1)Speak with kindness, others tend to pick up on how we are speaking and acting
2)Spend time together as a family, eat together, play games, watch a movie, go for a walk
3) Somethings just have to be done to keep a house running-do them with a good attitude.  For example, dishes must be washed but if you gripe and grumble all the way through, it will be much harder than if you just do them and maybe with a smile, or talk to your child or hubby as you do them together.
4) Apologize when wrong and do it as soon as possible-the longer hurt feelings are allowed to grow, the bigger that they can get, so just apologize and move on.
5) Hug-your spouse and your kids, even teens still need hugs even if it is sometimes hard for them to ask for them
6) One of the best things you can do to make your home peaceful is to pray-pray daily-pray for your family-lift each of them to God.
There is no magic formula for having a peaceful home but if you try these things I bet you will see a difference.
God bless,
Pat

Catch up-MIL day, Making your home a haven and Autumn through my eyes!

Ever get so busy and before you realize you are behind on everything?  That is how I am feeling right now.  I saw this graphic and thought it was perfect.
So here goes, first I am catching up on my Autumn Through My Eyes! Days 19-22
Bird bath

Chickens looking for food

Baby Piper born this October day

Also I am sure many of you have never heard of Mother-in-law's day and I had not either until the first year my son and his wife were married.  It is the last Sunday in October each year.  My Daughter-in-law has never missed remembering me or the day.  This year she gave me these adorable salt & pepper shakers.  I collect them and I love all things pumpkin so they are perfect for me as she is for our family.

Also this is the last week for the Make your Home a Haven challenge for this year.

This week’s challenge:
Focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home.
Cook things with pleasant aromas like homemade bread, pies, and cookies. Don’t wait to have a reason to make something special – do it simply to show love to your family. Invite your kids and/or hubby to cook along side of you – make memories in the kitchen – test tasting, being creative, laughing and loving. Remember the importance of dinner time around the table as a family.  Work on showing love, goodness and faithfulness to your family this week.
I hope your candle is still burning, the music is playing, and you are spending time showing your family they are special, whether it is by playing some games, watching a movie while snuggled together or baking them a special treat.  The challenge is over for this year but it is one I plan to try and continue all through out the year with my family.
God bless and I hope you have enjoyed catching up with me.

Autumn Through My Eyes-Day 18 and Voted with my youngest!

Today I got the priviledge of going with my youngest son to vote for the first time.  We voted early and it was so easy to get in and get it done. Very proud of him for recognizing that he needed to vote and make our voice heard, while we still have that right.

After that we went and got a sweet tea from McDonald's and went for a walk.  This picture was taken where we went to walk.

Week 3 of Making your home a haven-fall challenge and Day 13-15 of Autumn Through my eyes!

Week 3′s Challenge:
Keep your candle burning, the music playing and plan a Family Fun Night.
Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids or your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn. Bust out some old fashioned games and take the time to savor these moments with your loved ones.
Work on kindness and joy this week.
This is something we have not done in a while is have a game night.  I am planning one soon for us.  We do tend to have more game nights when it is cooler and we can't get outside as much.  One thing we have been doing though is watching the old tv shows on netflix as a family.  It is so funny watching the shows I watched as a child again with my child.
I am also participating in the fall through my eyes challenge over at The Simple Woman's Daybook- HERE-
I am a little behind so here is days 13-15 taken on a picnic I took with my son the other day.....

I hope ya'll are enjoying the pictures and seeing fall where I live.  I also hope you are working on making your home a haven too.
A blog post I read recently on your home that I really enjoyed that goes right along with making your home a haven is this.....http://www.sallyclarkson.com/building-a-god-designed-home/ I hope you will go read it too.

Week 2 of Making your home a haven-fall challenge and Day 11 of Autumn Through my eyes!

This week’s challenge:
Keep your candles burning, your prayers going and add soft music in your home.
Choose worship, classical, jazz or another form of peaceful music that the family enjoys. Focus on using peaceful words and maintaining peaceful relationships.
Work on gentleness and self-control this week.
My candle is burning and my music is playing, one song that I am really enjoying right now is this.......http://youtu.be/CVqR6kTu8lE  It reminds me to share peace and light into the world around me and it should start in my home.

Here are 4 ways to pursue gentleness and self-control this week:
1) Pray for Peace in your home and the world around you
2) Instead of raising your voice or speaking in anger, try to lower your voice to a soft whisper and speak kindly
3)Do not let others dictate how you feel or especially how you react
4) Remember yelling at a bud won't make it bloom
Remember Momas, you usually set the tone in your home, what kind of tone are you setting?  Is your home a haven to run to or a place they want to run from?

Autumn Through My Eyes-Day 10!

As I was snapping this picture, I could hear kids singing, "here we go around the mulberry bush" in my memories.  I love the vibrant colors in this picture.  I took this pic on one of my walks the other day.

Autumn Through My Eyes-Day 8 & 9!

This morning after finishing at the allergy clinic I went to the local arboretum to walk for a little bit and to read my bible.  I took a couple of pictures and these are my pictures for Autumn through my eyes for yesterday and today.

Just love the colors in this one, the pumpkins and flowers were so pretty together.
This is where I sat to read my bible, loves the white bench and white pumpkin and it was a very nice quiet time.

Week 1 of the Making Your Home a Haven 5th Annual, Fall Challenge! and Day 5 Autumn Through My Eyes

I am participating in the 5th annual challenge of "Making Your Home A Haven".  Our homes should be a haven from the world for our family and friends.  I want my home to be a place where people can come and experience love and peace not a place of negative but positive.

Week 1 – CHALLENGE:
Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time or whenever is convenient for you.  I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home.
Each time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace and patience within your home.
Dear Lord, I pray that everyone who enters my home will feel it is a haven, a place or peace and light and joy.  A place people want to come to and not run from.  I pray that they will see the true light is You.

The Statue of Liberty and The Cross of Jesus!

I was looking at a friend’s pictures the other day and I saw a picture of the Statue of Liberty.  I have always wanted to go to New York and see the Statue and go to Washington to see things that represent our country.  I want to see things that I was taught about in history class or heard on the news. I would love to someday take my grandkids to experience this.  It is a shame that as the world and time move on, some of these things mean less and less.  Our flag is not held in the honor it used to be, they want to take “In God We Trust” off our money and chance the constitution and laws that have served our country well. This scares me.
Something scares me more about the world’s attitude towards another great place in history and that is “The Cross”, the cross where Jesus hung and bled and died for all of us. They don’t teach about this in school any more.  I remember when my teacher read the bible to us each morning and we prayed.  Now that is not acceptable or permitted. We must take up this cross, we must teach our children, grandchildren and the world about the cross and what happened there and why.

As much as I would love to carry my grands to see the things of history, how much more important is it for me to teach them about Jesus?  As the news gets worse and the world becomes scarier, we need to step up, step up and tell more people about Jesus and how He has already overcome all this.  We need to teach them who He is and how to have Him in their heart and soul.  We may not be able to change the things to come in this life but we can change where we are going when it is over.  Some things do scare me nowadays but I know bottom line, no matter what, if worst case scenario happens, then I will be in heaven. Will you?  Will your kids, grandkids, sisters, brothers, neighbors, friends or enemies?  If you are not sure, tell them, ask them, share Jesus with someone today.

God bless,
Pat

Autumn though my eyes_day 4!

This morning it was finally cool enough to wear my favorite Tinkerbell hoodie when I took Stephen to work at the church.  Then when I came home me and the grands snuggled under my afghan a friend made me.

I am calling mine for Day 1-"love".  My 4 year old little grandaughter thought I needed this for my table when she saw it in Dollar Tree.  She said I needed to decorate for fall.  I thought it was so sweet and how could I say no?  I love it and her.
