Valentines 2011-I will never forget!

Some years me and my hubby have celebrated Valentines and some we haven't, depended on if he had to work, funds etc.  Well this year we decided to celebrate with a little prodding from my kiddos, little did I know what was about to happen. Stick with me to the end of this story, it will be worth it, I promise.

Hubby is unemployed so money is really tight so we decided to eat at home and with my little helper fairies-Jonathan, Jenny, Amanda and Stephen I cooked chicken breast, loaded mashed potaotoes, mac and cheese, baked beans and hawaiian rolls.  Amanda decorated the table and it was so pretty.

I thought now what can I do for a gift and I went to dollar tree and they had these chocolate lips and I grabbed them.  I made hubby a card and put a poem in it and part of it talked about when we first kissed (that is a story for another day) and I gave him the lips.  I was so excited about it.  He loves it by the way and he even cried.  Of course I had no idea what he had done cause he told me he had no money.
He made me a card on the computer and the picture above is one of the pictures on the card.  It had the sweetest poem inside and he signed it and I was so excited and then I saw he had written something at the bottom; he wrote and asked if I would marry him again-we will be married 25 years in August, in fact we celebrate 10 days after our only daughter gets married.  Anyway I was so excited and thought it was so sweet.  He then asked me don't you want to put it on?  I looked at him like he was nuts and then I saw "IT".  He had taped a flower shaped diamond ring to the inside picture.  When we got married he could not afford an engagement ring so 25 years later I have the ring.  Oh yeah I said yes.

As for the rest of the story on July 16, 2011 we will be having a small get together and renewing our vows,  I will share more about that in a different post.  I have to admit it was a Valentines I will never forget.  I hope yours was blessed too.

God bless,
Pat

PS It wasn't just the ring either but that after 25 years, 3 kids, lots of ups and downs and so many changes he wants to marry me all over again :)

Just a few thoughts

I warn you this post is more for me I think than my readers but feel free to listen in.  I was thinking about blogging today and I looked at my blog and I was disappointed.  I started my blog to share about my family with other family and friends.  I wanted it to be a place to encourage and lift others up.

I noticed lately I have been mostly posting memes and there is nothing wrong with memes, its just not what I want the focus of my blog to be that.  So I hope to be going in a new direction and I still may not blog everyday but I hope to have at least one a week and for it to have a little more to it.

Thanks for the ones that have hung in here with me and I hope to get back to better blogging ASAP.  God bless ya'll!

Week 4 Be My Valentine Challenge-Easy Ideas to Romance your Hubby!

I am loving this challenge, If you havent joined, its not too late! Its simple ideas to put your man first this Valentines!

Hopefully even after this romantic time of the year too!

View: Women Living Well's Challenge, "What a majority of men really want for Vday"
I love her ideas for this Vday!

Remember - there are no exceptions in the Bible where it says on Birthdays, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day we have permission to get selfish and self-centered. Philippians 2:3,4 says "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." {Women Living Well}

Ask your hubby, maybe he wants to go out to eat, maybe a good quiet homecooked meal might be nice.  Figure out what will make "your" hubby feel loved and don't worry what someone else is doing or what their hubby did or didn't do.

I am not sure what our plans are yet but He will know I love him, just like he does the other 364 days of the year and that is what is more important.

God bless,
Pat

Project 6: Share Knowledge

I am joining this week's project from Fixing Your Heart on Titus 2 from At The Well. Each Monday, they share a project that relates to being a Christian woman and living out our Titus 2 roles in real life.

This week’s project is:
to share a book with someone, either to borrow or to keep. Have you read a great book about what it means to be a Christian woman, wife, parent? Why not share the knowledge?
This week, let’s all share a book with someone. This way, we will be spreading biblical knowledge and understanding!
Use this as an opportunity to lift up another woman who is considered “younger.” Maybe a new mom, or a new wife, or a teen young lady.
 God bless,
Pat

Thankful Thursday

Why should we wait on thanksgiving to be thankful?  Every day we have something to be thankful for. I am joining in on this Thankful Thursday meme and sharing somethings I am thankful for and if you want to join in, go to http://womentakingastand.blogspot.com/ and link up.

This week I am thankful that my daughter is engaged to a nice Christian young man, they got engaged at church last night and plan to be married this August and follow the plans God has for their life.  I am thankful that God is #1 in their lives.  I also have a son and daughter-in-law that have given me my e grandkiddos and are raising them in church.  My youngest is homeschooled through our christian school.  I am blessed to have 3 kids that all are serving God.  My church will have their 19th anniversary services this Sunday and we have been their the whole time.  Thanks to God for leading us to this church, it made all the difference in our lives.
So what are you thankful for?
God bless,
Pat

Week 3 Be My Valentine Challenge

Join me for week 3 of the Be My Valentine Marriage Challenge!

So this week's challenge is:

Pursue intimacy and place the intimate needs of your spouse above your own. Give him a foot or back massage, be creative!
You know what will make him know you love him and like him too. Take some time and thought to let him know he is still your #1!

I think this is one of those challenges  that should be more private but am looking forward to letting my husband know that 25 years later, I still am in love with him and he is special to me.

God bless,

Pat

PLease Pray For My Pastor's Wife

I am asking anyone who reads or follows my blog to please pray for my Pastor's wife.  Her name is Deanna Weido.  Her husband is Bro. JD Weido, pastor of Bible Baptist church in El Dorado, Arkansas.  She was diagnosed yesterday with what the doctors think is stage 1 breast cancer.  We are trusting and believing that God will heal her.  I am asking you to join us in praying for her.  Please add her to your personal and or church prayer list.  Thanks in advance for prayers for her and her family as she faces this trial.
God bless,
Pat
