30 days of Summer Through My Eyes-Day 5-9

Last week was a very busy week and I got behind on my posting so I am posting all 5 of my days in this one post and will be better about keeping up through the rest of the days.

Summer to me means bible school so I will be sharing some pictures from our recent bible school at church.  I worked in nursery with my DIL but we did not 'babysit".  These kids got a lesson, coloring time, singing, snack and activity each night.  They are never too young to start teaching them about Jesus.

I hope you will enjoy summer and VBS through my eyes with a wonderful bunch of kiddos----

30 Days of Summer-through my eyes-Day 4

One of my favorite things in summer have been these little flowers.  They grow on the side of the road and in fields.  Sometimes they grow in rocky bad soil and places hard for flowers to grow but yet they do.  They don't let that stop them from spreading their beauty with others.
I have often wished that I could be more like them and let the beauty of Jesus show through my life no matter where I may be or find myself placed.  One way to do that is to follow the bible verse on the above picture. My son took this picture and added the verse as a reminder to me.
I hope if anyone is reading this they will enjoy the picture, thought and verse.

God bless,
Pat

30 days of summer through my eyes-Day 3-Lemonade!

Day 3 is one of my favorite tastes of Summer
There is nothing better than a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed lemonade on a hot day. Here is a simple homemade lemonade recipe made with real lemons.
What you will need to make homemade lemonade:
  • 4 to 6 large lemons
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 quarts cold water
1. Slice lemons in half.
2. Squeeze them into a large measuring cup (There should be about 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice).
3. Remove any seeds.
4.  Slice a  lemon to put in the pitcher
4. Combine the lemon juice and sugar, stir into the cold water and serve over ice

30 Days of Summer--Through My Eyes-Day 1

I am going to show you what summer looks like, tastes like, smells like, and feels like to me through my eyes. I am starting the challenge with a picture of me and my grandkids took at our family reunion this past Saturday.  Summer to me is a time to spend with family and to make special memories. Summer feels like family and <3

Simple Woman's Daybook for June

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
It's raining

I am thinking...
I wish it would stop raining so I could get these kids outside to run off some of their eneregy

I am thankful...
for  my church

I am going...
to enjoy spoiling my grands for the next two days

I am wondering...
how many kids will get saved at Bible school this week

I am hoping...
to get back to walking and exercising more

I am looking forward to...
family reunion this weekend

I am learning
that I really need my daily quiet time with God

I am pondering...
how God never gives up on me even when I give up on myself

A favorite quote for today...
Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so

One of my favorite things...my grands

Summer Supper-Yummy!

I try to cook supper for my family every night and they  love pasta and it is so easy to make, this recipe might not be the healthiest but it sure was yummy.   I served this with some Green Giant Sugar Snap Peas that just had to be microwaved in the bag.  I had a couple people ask for the recipe so sharing it here.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta
1 lb pasta
6 strips bacon, diced
1 Tbsp butter
2 boneless skinless chicken breast halves, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 packet ranch dressing mix
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste

1. Cook pasta according to package directions in boiling salted water; drain, return to pot, and keep warm.
2. Meanwhile, cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Drain all but one tablespoon of bacon drippings from the pan.
3. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Add the butter to the reserved bacon drippings, then add the chicken to the same skillet. Cook until tender, no longer pink, and slightly browned.
4. Sprinkle the flour and ranch dressing mix over the chicken, stirring to coat evenly. Stir in the milk, and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in the cheddar cheese and half of the bacon; cook and stir until the cheese is melted.

This is not my recipe, I found it online but it sure is good.  Let me know if you try it and what you think

God bless, Pat

Changes in my life and on the blog-excited about both!

My desktop computer had to be worked on and I couldn't figure out how to blog from my Ipod so my blog has been silent for a couple of months now.  Also during this time away my youngest graduated so though I will be working with one of my grands doing PreK this fall and all of them this summer, my homeschooling days are basically over. My Dr says I must make dietary and exercise changes and so everywhere I look my life is changing.  So I am making some changes here on my blog too and I hope that if anyone is out there reading they will like them too.

God bless,
Pat

Taking a Break to see if I want to continue

I am taking a break from here.  I am not sure if I want to continue or if my blog is another thing that is just a thing of the past.  I ...
