Making time for you!

Do you ever feel so tired, so give out to others, so empty.  As women we feel like this sometimes and it is usually because we have spent so much time giving and doing for others that we have nothing left for us.  Sometimes we need to stop and make time for us but we usually don’t and a couple of the biggest reasons are this: no money and no time.
Doing something for ourselves doesn’t have to cost a lot of time, money or energy, we just need to realize we are important too and just do it.  If we take a few minutes to fill ourselves back up we will feel better and be better able to do for the ones we love also.

A few of the things we could do for ourselves are:
1) Bible time-you might not have time to read several chapters a day or maybe not even one, but pick a verse or two and read them and think on them several times a day.  Put them in places you will see often, like on the refrigerator, the bathroom mirror, in the laundry room, by the computer or bed.
2) Take a few minutes while the kids are napping or after they go to bed and drink a cup of hot tea, iced tea, lemonade or your favorite soda and just slowly enjoy it, even if it is for just a few minutes,
3) Light a candle or burn some scentsy, the glow of the candle or pleasant smell will calm you.
4) Buy some flowers or pick some from your yard, flowers always make me smile
5) Go for a walk, even if you have to take the little's, the sun and fresh air will make you feel better.
6) Take time to talk to God and listen to Him.

Be still, and know that I am God:

What are you waiting for?

What are you waiting for?  How many of ya'll have "special" dishes you hardly if ever use?  What about the pretty candle you never burn, or the whatever yours may be?  What are you waiting for?
I worked for almost 20 years with the elderly and when they would pass away, the family would come in to clean out their home and they would find towels never used, dishes never ate off, candles never burned.  Not only was it never used, it was never enjoyed and now it was too late.
Kids grow up quick and life happens fast.  Who is more special than your husband or children?  Get out the special dishes, light the candles and enjoy, make them feel special.  Don't wait til it is too late.
Life happens fast, what are you waiting on?

God bless,
Pat

What would you do if you got that kind of news?

Have any of ya'll ever heard a song called "Live Like You Were Dying?  Part of the words are
"He said
"I was in my early forties
With a lot of life before me
And a moment came that stopped me on a dime
I spent most of the next days
Looking at the x-rays
Talkin' 'bout the options
And talkin' 'bout sweet time"
I asked him
"When it sank in
That this might really be the real end
How's it hit you
When you get that kind of news?
Man, what'd you do?"
I have heard the song and mostly listened because it reminded me of my Dad when he found out he had leukemia.  We started thinking of the things he might miss or want to do while he still could.  We prayed for alot more time but God decided otherwise and just 2 short months later my Daddy went home to heaven.  He was not there for my college graduation, my wedding day or to see any of my babies born.  I could focus on all he missed but it is easier if I focus on the time we did have.  You see my Dad almost died when I was five but God allowed him to live for another 16 years.  We crammed alot of living in those years.
Fast forward to now,I went in for a chest xray to check my lungs cause I could not get over this bout of bronchitis.  They saw something but were sure it was nothing but ordered a CT scan.  The Dr assured me it was probably nothing and at the worst I had pneumonia. So, after having the scan done,my Dr called and said we needed to talk.  I went in for a visit praying she did not have to put me in the hospital.  I was not prepared for the words she said, they found a mass on my lungs. Now, the what do you do when you get that kind of news is on me.
For me, what I am doing is this, praying, asking others for prayer and having faith in God.  I have a Dr's appointment on the 22nd and we will be scheduling a biopsy to find out what is actually wrong with me.  Now, I have no idea what the news will be but I do know this, God is in control and I believe in Him and no matter what the news is, it is in God's hands.
I am sharing this not for pity but one maybe some of you will pray and two to share how good God's love is even when the news may not be.
I will update when I know more......until then......
God bless,
Pat

Why I love my Husband, On going List.......

I was visiting some of the blogs I follow today over at http://www.tingsmom.com/ and she was linking up with Happy Wives Club doing a monthly list about why we love our husbands.  Billy and I have been through alot in over 26 years and I still love him.  Sometimes it is easy to get content and forget to let him know I do still love him.  I am hoping doing this challenge will help me to remember to not just love him but let him know I still do and why so today I'm starting a new series on the blog and linking it up with Happy Wives Club.  The second Thursday of each month I'll be listing 10 reasons why I love my hubby.  If you would like be a part of this series,  head over to Happy Wives Club and get all the details.

Why I love Billy
1) He loves me
2) He loves our kids and kids in law
3) He loves our grankids
4) He loves to cook and I love to eat his cooking
5) He works so I don't have to
6) He lets me homeschool T
7) He spoils me, making me hot tea right now
8) He watches Duck Dynasty with me, even though he does not get it
9) He supports me in all I do at church
10) He is supporting and encouraging me as I face whatever this is in my chest that I am battling right now

I invite you to come back next month and the months to come as I add to this list and maybe you will consider joining up and making your own list for your husband.

God bless,
Pat

Money challenge 2013!

This is what my piggy bank looks like most of the time, seems like I cannot save money.  This picture is kind of funny but this is not a joke, we really would like to have more of a nest egg.  Billy was unemployed for almost a year and even though he has a job now, we just can't seem to see how to save.
Today I saw this money challenge thing every where I turned.  Hubby and I talked about it and we are going to take this challenge and see how it goes.
As you see it won't put a ton of money in savings but it is a start.  Also this starts off slow and builds slowly so that it is like giving up a coke to start and builds to no more than most people spend on eating out as a family.  I will be checking back in from time to time to let ya'll know how we are doing.  Anybody want to join us on this challenge?

God bless,
Pat

2013 Goals and Verses

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
Walt Disney

New Years resolutions just do not happen.  I make them and I break them.  This year I decided to search my life, pray, and set some goals.  I am not sure if I will reach them or not but I know if I do not try then I am already a failure. I made goals in 4 separate areas and a bible verse for each.  So here is my list of goals.....
1)Spiritual---
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
My first goal is to read my bible through in 2013.  This is a resolution that I have made many times and never kept.  A friend of mine offered to send anybody who emailed her a copy of the bible reading schedule she uses and so I got one and hope it will help me to meet this goal.  If I succeed in this I will also reach another goal which is to have a daily quiet time with God.
2)Family---
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
I want to spend more time with my family.  Life goes quickly and you never know when something could happen.  I want my family to know they are my treasure.  My goal this year is people over things.
 3)Others---
Philippians 2:3-4
3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
I am doing a giveaway of sorts on my blogpage on facebook each month.....https://www.facebook.com/pages/Living-Life-With-The-Loves/201693106596152
where I will be honoring a lady or young lady that deserves to be honored.  They will receive a little something to let them know someone has noticed them, cares and wants to let them know how special they are. I believe when you bless others God will bless you.  I want to be a blessing to others this year.
4) Health and Self---
I Corinthians 6:19-20
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
I am not setting a goal to lose a certain amount of weight or to exercise for a certain amount of time though I hope these will happen.  I just want to be healthier this year.  I am so tired of being sick and I know if I took better care of myself then I would.  I want to work on things that will make me stronger and better.  I know if I reach this goal that it will help me with all of my other goals and areas of life.
Now will I reach these goals?  Again, I don't know but I do know I am praying that God will give me grace and strength to do my best to.

God bless,
Pat

Taking a Break to see if I want to continue

I am taking a break from here.  I am not sure if I want to continue or if my blog is another thing that is just a thing of the past.  I ...
